About this event
The Minelab 500 is a flagship weekend rally and festival hosted by the detector manufacturer Minelab in the rural countryside around Yeovil. Spanning three days, the event is limited to roughly 500 participants to ensure ample room on the fields. Minelab secures a variety of arable and pasture land with a rich history of Roman, Saxon and medieval activity. In addition to the natural detecting grounds, there is a token hunt each day where special tokens buried in the soil can be redeemed for prizes ranging from accessories to new detectors. A large camping area accommodates tents, caravans and motorhomes, and a food village offers a wide choice of hot meals, snacks and drinks alongside a beer tent for evening socialising. Manufacturers and dealers set up stands where you can try the latest equipment and purchase accessories. Live music and evening entertainment create a festival atmosphere. Families are welcome and there is a dedicated kids’ detecting area. While there are no day tickets announced at the time of writing, weekend tickets include all detecting and camping. The exact location is kept confidential until shortly before the rally to protect the land. Participants must be members of NCMD or FID and bring their membership card when checking in. Toilets and showers are provided and first aid is on site. This event is a rare opportunity to detect high‑quality land under the guidance of one of the industry’s leading manufacturers while enjoying a sociable summer festival.
