Largely urban county. Very limited farmland. Work through local clubs for the few available rural permissions.
Can you metal detect on council land in Tyne and Wear?
North Tyneside Council’s published rules restrict intrusive metal detecting involving digging in specified parks, country parks, waggonways and protected open spaces. That does not automatically establish the rules for every local beach or council site. Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland manage separate landholdings. Contact the responsible land manager before detecting and ask specifically about recovery rights.
