Where You Can Legally Detect in Greater Manchester

Urban county with very limited detecting land. Rural fringe clubs in Stockport, Wigan and Oldham areas are the best contacts for farmland permissions.

Can You Metal Detect on Council Land in Greater Manchester?

Local authorities in Greater Manchester manage their parks and open spaces under separate rules. A past Manchester City Council response described a refusal to allow recreational detecting in city parks, and Salford has published guidance indicating that detecting on council land is restricted. Because conditions can change, ask the relevant parks team for its current written position before visiting. Do not assume a rule applying to one borough also applies across Greater Manchester.
